Class description for online domestic violence classes:

Classes have been designed to facilitate the elimination of violence and abuse in the home. The class curriculum covers all forms of abuse, power and control, gender roles, impact of abuse on children, alcohol and drug use and non-violent problem solving.
The classes are very personal and use a practical and skill-based approach. Each class is geared to facilitate accountability, teach participants to stop the behavior that brought them to the class. In addition, it gives participants the tools they need to apply to their lives to ensure positive healthy coping skills are used in the future.

The classes are structured to eliminate excuses and common barriers to completing the classes. The class Participant pays nothing out of pocket until week 5. This allows low income participants to begin immediately even if they are struggling financially. In addition, classes are available online eliminating challenges with transportation. Complete classes day or night to remove the issues of work schedule conflicts.
The format used for the classes is tri-part. Therefore, each class contains a Video portion, a Reading portion, and a Quiz portion that is very personalized. Many checks are in place to ensure the participant fully engages in each class and are not able to skip any sections.

Class Description and Format

–Every class has a Video portion that the participant will watch just as if they were sitting in a classroom. Hidden within the videos are questions they must answer to verify the entire video portion was watched and the material was understood.

–Every class also includes a Reading Portion that teaches the material in a very practical skill-based manner. Therefore, the participants are not just learning to stop the unhealthy behavior, they are learning positive coping skills for how to handle life situations in the future. In addition, every class also includes an interactive portion of Power and Control and Equality concepts. This helps the participant to draw a very clear line between healthy and unhealthy characteristics of relationships. The interactive portion gives the participant the opportunity to hold the mirror up to their past relationships and current relationship to take responsibility for and to evaluate their behavior.

–The third portion of the class is the Quiz Portion. The participants must answer open ended quiz questions that require them to apply the material to their own lives and own situations in order to answer the questions. This ensures that they not only absorbed the material taught in that class, but that they are able to apply it to their own lives.

Summary

A total of up to 52 classes are available. The Participant can complete the number of classes required in their specific situation. However, the classes are educational in nature and are not therapy or counseling.
